Our Journeys story of the week is “Half-Chicken.” There are 14 spelling words and 2 challenge (bonus) words. There are also 10 high frequency words. Please have your child practice reading, writing, and spelling both lists of words. Our spelling words are base words plus suffixes un- and re-. We also have 2 review words. The additional phonics skill for this lesson is silent consonants in words. 

Vocabulary words and Grammar skill (irregular action verbs) for lesson 24 are in the Journeys textbook, if you’d like to review these with your child. Language Arts tests will be on Friday, April 5th.

ReadnQuiz: Please make sure your child reads his/her RQ book and passes the RQ quiz before Monday, March 25th. Also, please check to make sure your child returns his/her library books to school 3/25. Because of Easter break, the next RQ testing deadline will be Monday, April 8th.

Language Arts tests will be on Friday, March 22nd.

ReadnQuiz: Because of the Book Fair, students were unable to check out library books the week before Spring break, so there is no RQ requirement for March 18th. There are several students with overdue library books, so please check to make sure your child returns his/her library books to school Monday, 3/18, to avoid overdue/replacement fees.

 Our Journeys story of the week is “Gloria Who Might Be My Best Friend.” There are 14 spelling words and 2 challenge (bonus) words. There are also 10 high frequency words. Please have your child practice reading, writing, and spelling both lists of words. Our spelling words are homophones, and correct spelling may be challenging. Please remind your child to pay attention to context clues when figuring out the correct spelling (we’ve been working on this skill in class). Vocabulary words and Grammar skill (more about adjectives) for lesson 22 are in the Journeys textbook, if you’d like to review these with your child. Language Arts tests will be on Friday, March 8th.
