Homework for week of 9/8/2020

Hello 2nd Grade Families!

The blog will be the place to find homework assignments for the week. In order to minimize the amount of papers traveling to and from school, most homework assignments will be digital. Any paper homework must be sent back by Friday or scanned/photographed and submitted to me via email by Friday. I will also be sending home unfinished classroom work, which will be due by Friday each week in order to receive credit.

Homework for Tuesday, September 8th - Friday, September 11th

IXL assignments: This week, please log onto IXL. Click on Learning under the IXL logo and select Skill Plans. Have your child work on the Fall Power-Up for 2nd Grade Math, week 1. I’ll check IXL homework for completion on Monday, September 14th.

ReadnQuiz: Please make sure your child reads and tests on at least one book per month. I’m sending home a form for you to fill out to help you keep up with your child’s RQ tests. I’m also sending a form for our school reading contest. Help your child set a goal for the number of words he/she would like to read for the school year. Awards will be given to the students who read the most words from each grade.

Epic: Log onto our class site on Epic and check under assignments. Please have your child complete any unfinished assigned items. I have also assigned a collection of 2nd grade books for your child to choose to read. This collection contains several books for extra reading practice and does not need to be completed.

I will keep you updated about Journeys, our new Reading curriculum. Once we start using it, there will be weekly Reading and Spelling tests. If we continue progressing at the same pace in Math, our first test will be Friday, September 18th.

As always, please email me with any questions.

Welcome Rising 1st Graders!

Dear Families,

Your child has worked so incredibly hard this year! I know that we all want him/her to KEEP that knowledge so when Fall rolls around, your child will be ready for 1st Grade.

Did you know that children lose an average of 2 months of learning if they do not read/practice skills during the summer months?! Scary, right? We don’t want that to happen, which is why I’m posting summer learning activities for your child to complete throughout the summer months. Reading daily and completing the IXL lessons in Math and Language Arts will help your child retain what he/she has learned. I’ll also be including links for fun activities and videos, so please check the blog regularly.

I hope you all have a great summer! I can’t wait to see you in the Fall! 😀
