2nd Grade Scientists

The 2nd grade scientists had a great time investigating pumpkins. They examined the outsides and insides of the pumpkins and recorded their findings. They weighed their pumpkins, measured the height and circumference, and even gave them names!

They worked to prove the theory that the number of lines on the outside of a pumpkin determines the number of seeds inside. They removed the seeds and counted by 2s, 5s, and 10s to see if the theory is correct - and it is! The pumpkin with the most lines (Fat Freddy) also had the most seeds!

I’ve added a dictated sentence to the spelling test. Please have your child practice writing complete sentences using the spelling words; you can dictate the sentences to your child or have them write sentences on their own. I’ll be checking for capitalization at the beginning of the sentence and punctuation at the end on the sentence I dictate for the test.

We have 10 high frequency words this week. Please have your child practice reading these to you daily.
